It has been just over a week since the second edition of the Gendering AI Conference 2025 came to a close, and I am still reflecting on the energy, insights, and commitments that emerged. This year’s convening was a collective act of imagining what more inclusive, equitable, and just AI systems could look like.
One of the most powerful outcomes has been seeing our partners, speakers, and participants share their own reflections. These posts remind us that the conference was the beginning of an ongoing dialogue that we must carry forward. They capture the urgency, grounding, and possibilities of decolonizing AI and gendering AI in ways that inspire us to keep building together.
When people take time to share what resonated with them, it speaks volumes. Their words become conversation starters, helping others join the dialogue and reminding us that the work of shaping AI is not limited to conference rooms. It is lived in our communities, institutions, and policies.
As convener, I am especially glad that we came together in Nairobi to challenge dominant narratives in AI and to ensure that African and women’s voices are not just included, but centered. The reflections shared by our partners show that this vision is not only possible, it is already unfolding.
Partner Reflections

Looking Ahead
The outcomes of the Gendering AI Conference 2025 will not sit on paper, they will guide our next steps, inform collaborations, and spark new initiatives. We are committed to turning these conversations into concrete actions that advance equity and justice in AI, not only in Africa but globally.
