About Gendering AI Conference

The Gendering AI Conference 2025 will be a bold, global gathering designed to interrogate artificial intelligence through a feminist, decolonial lens.

Rooted in the urgency to center marginalized voices, we are building a movement to challenge power structures in AI development and deployment.

First launched in 2024 in Arusha, Tanzania, this conference was born from a shared vision which is to ensure AI advances gender, social, and economic justice rather than to deepen existing inequalities.

Join thought leaders, researchers, activists, and innovators in Nairobi from August 20-22, 2025 as we decolonize AI narratives, promote intersectional approaches, and re-imagine an inclusive future for all.

What Makes Us Unique

The Gendering AI Conference 2025 will be a bold and disruptive convening that will bring together voices from across the globe to interrogate artificial intelligence through a feminist, decolonial lens.

Decolonizing & Challenging Existing Gender Narratives in AI

We will confront how AI systems often replicate colonial, patriarchal, and exclusionary patterns. Our mission will be to dismantle these structures and amplify diverse voices that have historically been erased.

Promoting Gender, Social, & Economic Justice in AI

We believe AI must be a tool for liberation & not oppression. We will spotlight urgent gender, social, and economic justice issues, ensuring AI serves communities that are too often left behind.

Advancing Feminist & Intersectional Approaches to Equitable AI

This year, we will champion feminist, intersectional frameworks that acknowledge the complex realities of gender, class, and geography, pushing for AI systems that are fair, inclusive, and just.
